Manager Forums
Manager Forums are a way for you to gain insights from university and industry leaders, connect with other managers, learn more about the resources available to support you, give input to new or changing workplace programs, and share your learnings from approaches with your teams that had fantastic results—and approaches that didn’t work so well.
Format and participants: Live (no cost) sessions are held via Zoom. Manager Forum events are not recorded. Registering through STARS is required. Enrollment is limited to ensure breakout sessions are a size conducive to sharing. All people managers from across the university are invited to participate in Manager Forums.

Mastering Flexible Work at Stanford: Best practices to optimize your team’s operations
Hosted by Ann Foley, Stanford’s Sr. Director of Workplace Experience
Join us for the upcoming Manager Forum where Ann Foley, Stanford’s Sr. Director of Workplace Experience, will lead a session on optimizing work practices in a flexible work environment.
Over the past four years, you’ve navigated changes in the workplace that none of us could have imagined a decade ago. Now that we’ve got the basics down on managing distributed teams, we can turn our focus to optimizing how our teams work in a distributed environment.
In this interactive session, you’ll hear the latest research on the ways distributed work affects our experience as individuals and teams, and receive concrete, practical best practices to optimize team effectiveness and connection. Ann will share actionable guidance with real-life examples of how to address challenges you may face such as making decisions about work arrangements and schedules, setting related expectations, establishing communication and meeting norms, and fostering engagement.
As an attendee, you’ll receive guides and templates to help put these best practices into action. Manager Forum sessions are not recorded.
